Photos of Landslide in Hakha City

Chin State is a very mountainous region. Hakha is the capital city of the state. The city is situated on the slope of Rungtlang Mountain which is 7,500 above sea level. The soil in the city is very soft and weak easily erose

The landslides in Hakha area are one of the most destructive forces for the city of Hakha. The landslides caused loss of millions of kyat for the family.

For a norman Chin person, he may may be able to build a good house only once in his lifetime. "Lossing one house is a great loss for the family."

The following photos are taken by the Committee of Hakha Landslide in 2013. We don't have modern tools and equipments and we could not do a through survey. We would like to dig the soil deep down to find out whether there is a huge stone underneath the Hakha city but we have no tool. Therefore we took picture to collect data to calculate which areas are imminent threat from the landslide.
